DAY-to-DAY PROGRAM
Day 1, su 26/05: First day
Flight from Brussels to Tel Aviv (with El Al). Transfer to Jerusalem in early morning.
Day 2, mo 27/05: Mount of Olives, Old City
Later breakfast and departure at 09.30. Today we start from Mount of Olives and walk via Dominus Flevit (Where the Lord wept) to Getsemané. Via Valley of Kidron we walk to the Old City, to the Wailing Wall. Here we can see the end of the Bar Mitswa, when boys turn 13 years old and are allowed to officially read the Thora for the first time. Afterwards we visit Hurva Synagogue. In afternoon visit City of David. If time enough,.
Day 3, tu 28/05: Yadvashem, Betlehem
In the morning we visit Yadvashem, memorial monument of the Holocaust. Very impressive. After that we will go by bus to Betlehem for a visit of the Nativity Church and the Shepherds Fields. Then back to Jerusalem to the old town. (Instead of Yadvashem you can also choose to visit the Israel Museum, famous for the Model of the Temple and the Dead Sea scrolls).
Day 4, we 29/05: Dead Sea area and Jericho
We leave Jerusalem and drive to the Dead Sea-area. First of all we visit Qumran, the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls have been found. Of course there will be some time for floating in the Dead Sea. Then we go to Jericho, where we make a stop at Wadi Kelt to have a view on the St. George Monastery. Afterwards we will drive into Jericho to visit Tell Jericho and to take the cable car to Mount of Temptation. Overnight in Jericho.
Day 5, th 30/05: Jericho-Jordan Valley-Tiberias
In the morning we leave for the bus tour to the North. First stop is at baptism site Qasr el Yahud, close to Jericho. If possible there will also be a short stop at a small shop where you can buy many dates, a specialty from this region. The next stop is at the hot springs of Gan Hashelosha (Sachne), where wecan have a swim. We visit Mount Tabor, where we will drive with taxis to the top. Our last visit of this day will be the Church of Annunciation in Nazareth. Afterwards we go to our hotel in Tiberias.
Day 6, fr 31/05: Around the Lake
In the morning you make a boat tour on Lake Tiberias. Afterwards we visit Yigal Allon, a small 'Jesus Boat ' museum and we will see the excavations of the very old synagogue of Magdala. In the afternoon we will drive to the North and will make a hike at the springs of the river Jordan: Banjas.
Day 7, sa 01/06: Tiberias-Netanya
Departure from Tiberias and visit of Crusader City Akko. Via Muhraka (beautiful view) we drive to our last visit of the day: Caesarea, situated along the coast.
Day 8, su 02/06: Last day
Transfer to Ben Gurion Airport and return flight to Brussels, with El Al.
